Innerbloom Ketamine Therapy Expands Treatment Space in San Luis Obispo

The expansion will elevate the patient experience and allow SLO’s first and only IV ketamine infusion clinic to host community wellness events within its modern, tranquil setting.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA – Nearly eight months after treating its first patients with intravenous (IV) ketamine infusions, Innerbloom Ketamine Therapy has put the finishing touches on its expansion into an adjacent office space near downtown San Luis Obispo. The project adds over 450 square feet and features a new reception area, group therapy seated area, and a second treatment room.

Innerbloom Ketamine Therapy was founded in 2022, by Ray Rivas MD, who is a board-certified, acute care and trauma surgeon who has lived and worked in the Central Coast region of California since 2019. With more than 11 years administering IV ketamine, Dr Rivas was first impressed by the medicine’s safety, speed, and ability to relieve traumatic pain and suffering. As the scientific consensus began to show that IV ketamine could also reliably alleviate depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse disorders, and chronic pain, Dr Rivas set out to bring this powerful new treatment to the area.

According to The Johns Hopkins University, an estimated 1 in 4 adults in the US will suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder each year. “We are in the midst of a nationwide mental health crisis and now more than ever, people are seeking newer treatments like IV ketamine, especially because it’s safe and has a strong likelihood of a successful outcome,” said Dr Rivas.

Dr Rivas added that in some cases IV ketamine may be used in conjunction with more conventional treatments like antidepressants (eg, SSRIs) or psychotherapy, but that it is not necessarily a replacement. Further, patients should always consult with a licensed medical professional before adding or changing treatments to minimize serious risks from drug interactions, abuse, and quality control.

Some people may not be suitable candidates for IV ketamine treatment. However, many have achieved positive, life-changing results with IV ketamine with few or no side effects. Further, when IV ketamine infusions are planned within days of receiving psychotherapy or other therapeutic methods, the latest research indicates that positive results may last longer. As the first of its kind in the city, Innerbloom Ketamine Therapy aims to help people live happier and healthier lives by treating mental illness and pain in ways that are rapid, effective, and safe.
